Reducing carbon emissions for a positive environmental impact

Zecca, in partnership with Green Power and Huawei FusionSolar, has launched a major ecological initiative by equipping the Chaouia Brickworks, a brick factory located in Berrechid, near Casablanca, with a 2 MW solar plant. This transformation aims to significantly reduce traditional energy consumption and decrease the factory’s carbon footprint, which is known for its high energy intensity. By utilizing solar energy, a renewable and clean source, the factory minimizes greenhouse gas emissions and reduces its reliance on traditional energy sources.

This initiative has a significant environmental impact by contributing to the reduction of carbon emissions, thus helping to mitigate climate change. Furthermore, by integrating a sustainable energy solution, Chaouia Brickworks encourages other businesses to adopt similar practices, promoting a transition towards more environmentally friendly production models.

Huawei FusionSolar inverters designed to optimize large-scale photovoltaic plant performance

The project was developed using Huawei FusionSolar 185KTL inverters, specifically designed to optimize the performance of solar installations.

Here are some advantages of the Huawei FusionSolar 185KTL inverters :

Voltage and MPPT Management : Equipped with 9 MPPTs, these inverters can handle voltages up to 1500 VDC / 800 VAC.

  • Advanced protection : These inverters feature advanced DC and AC protection systems, ensuring maximum reliability and increased safety.
  • API communication : Huawei FusionSolar inverters have API communication capabilities for easy integration with other energy management systems.
  • String-level management : They include string-level management, optimizing the overall efficiency of the solar system.
  • Monitoring and maintenance : The intelligent I-V curve and advanced diagnostics support proactive monitoring and preventive maintenance, ensuring optimal performance and maximizing energy production.
  • High efficiency : With a high conversion efficiency, these Huawei inverters maximize energy production by effectively converting DC to AC.
  • Battery compatibility : These inverters are compatible with various energy storage solutions, allowing for easy integration of batteries for surplus energy storage and managing periods without sunlight.

Advanced safety features : In addition to DC and AC protections, FusionSolar inverters include additional safety features such as arc detection systems and surge protection.

Using these cutting-edge technologies, the project has achieved a solar production capacity of 2 MWp, demonstrating the efficiency and robustness of Huawei FusionSolar solutions in the renewable energy sector.

A solar production capacity of 2 MWp and over 1900 tons of CO2 avoided annually

With a solar production capacity of 2 MWp, this initiative represents a significant shift in how we approach clean energy generation. By producing 3.6 GWh of solar energy annually, it meets the increasing electricity needs of the brick factory while minimizing its carbon footprint. This capacity not only allows the factory to diversify its energy sources but also ensures a stable and reliable supply of power, crucial for supporting industrial activities and local energy needs.

Each year, thanks to this installation, over 1900 tons of CO2 are avoided, making a major contribution to the fight against climate change. This reduction in greenhouse gas emissions highlights the effectiveness of solar energy in decreasing our dependence on polluting fossil fuels. By reducing the carbon footprint so significantly, the initiative aligns perfectly with global emission reduction goals and environmental protection.

By adopting these sustainable industrial practices, the city of Berrechid is setting an inspiring example of environmental leadership. By demonstrating that the energy transition is not only possible but also beneficial, it paves the way for broader adoption of renewable technologies in Morocco and beyond. This approach not only meets modern sustainability standards but also inspires other regions to follow this example in contributing to a more environmentally friendly future.
